Enabling Reverse Genetics in Camelina sativa

The bioenergy crop Camelina sativa possesses unparalleled potential for the production of seed oil for biodiesel and aviation fuel applications, as well as for the synthesis of renewable bioproducts. Camelina can be grown as a low input crop and is drought and cold tolerant. To ease genetic improvement of this crop, we have developed three different EMS mutagenized Camelina populations. In this JGI CSP we will sequence the genomes of these mutants, catalog all of the mutations and make the seed available to researchers to study gene function.
